Carol Lake is an established textile designer-maker with a passion for designing botanical printed fabrics that celebrate the ebb and flow of the seasons.
Carols work reflects her desire to preserve the British tradition of hand-painting in textiles and combine it with modern technology. Each piece features her classically hand-painted flowers, her love of colour and close attention to detail. Her designs celebrate the timeless tradition of using botanical imagery on textiles with a fresh modern twist. giving them a distinct identity. Carol is creating contemporary classics that will surely be treasured for years to come.
Carols collection is created by hand in Great Britain, enabling her to; produce small runs and limited editions in a world of mass production and standardisation; to be able to offer a bespoke service; to personally maintain quality control; to reduce carbon footprint; to support British Industry and the planet; to retain the unique tradition of producing textiles in Britain; to reflect the Britishness of her work
Before creating her own label, Carol consistently worked with some of the finest design companies worldwide and continues to do so. Her client list includes some of the top names in the design world such as Lulu Guinness, Nina Campbell and Scalamandre and her work has been featured on the TV series 'Friends' and 'Sex and the City'. She has built a strong signature style and her work has been printed onto a wide variety of products including furnishing fabrics, wallpaper, bed linen, table linen, household accessories, paper napkins and clothes.
